Letter to the Parents

David,
I still remember the day you were born as if it were just a few years ago. I was so excited to finally be a big sister. Twenty-eight years later here you are giving me my first nephew.
I cannot begin to explain the amount of love I already have for this little boy. I never thought I'd feel this much love for a child that isn't my own. I want you to know that no matter the distance between our two families I will always be there for this baby. I promise to be the best aunt I can possibly be. He will always be able to count on me for anything he needs and so can you. I love you!!

Liane,
You are one of the strongest, hardworking women I know. I admire you so much. I am glad you came into our lives. You have stuck around in the toughest of times and that's what it's all about. Thank you for being a wonderful wife to my brother. I couldn't have asked for a better mother for my nephew.

My Gift To You

When I heard that both of my brothers were going to be having babies, I was elated. I could not have been happier for them but, most of all, I was finally going to be the aunt I had dreamt of being for so long.
As exciting as this news was, it was also bittersweet. It saddened me to think about us living so far apart from each other and even farther apart from our parents. I wanted nothing more than to see our children grow up together. I wanted to be around to babysit whenever you needed me. I can't imagine not being there to see them the minute they enter this world.
Unfortunately, life doesn't always turn out the way we hoped it would. People go their separate ways and they have to find other ways to stay close and not break those ties that bind them.

As my gift to you both, I have decided to create two blogs in honor of my niece and nephew. I will post all the latest information and photos I receive from you from now until their 1st birthdays.
My goal is to give you, the parents, a virtual scrapbook that will allow you to share all the joys to come with those that love you and want to be a part of this journey.

BTW...Just typing the words "my niece and nephew" got me all choked up.
